It is shaping up to be a busy day for Arkansas.
The Razorbacks are introducing new AD Hunter Yurachek on Wednesday after officially hiring him on Monday. It is also being reported that the university has agreed to terms with SMU’s Chad Morris to become head coach of the Razorbacks.
It remains to be seen how Yurachek’s tenure will play out with the Hogs, but he made some interesting comments regarding coach contracts at his introductory press conference. He pointed out that there is a need to get contracts and buyouts under control while noting “ludicrous” protections in some deals.
Yurachek: We’ve got to get a handle on coaches contracts and buyouts. … The protection coaches are give in contracts sometimes are ludicrous.

Yurachek also pointed out Texas A&M for its guaranteed contract with former head coach Kevin Sumlin. It should be noted that the current 10-year deal A&M has with Jimbo Fisher is also fully guaranteed.

It will be interesting to see what Morris’ reported deal looks like after these comments.
