Arkansas CB Jared Collins ready for his toughest challenge of the season

Arkansas cornerback Jared Collins has taken a unique path to stardom. The fifth-year senior was an under-the-radar recruit, but exceeded expectations to become one of the best defensive backs in the SEC.
He’s so respected that opposing teams have tried to avoid throwing the ball in his direction this season. However, that hasn’t impacted how he plays the game, as he told Hawgs247 Thursday.
“I play every play expecting the ball to come to my man,” Collins said. “So I am just going to keep doing that and if they don’t throw it, they don’t throw it.”
In Week 6, Collins will focus on slowing down Alabama’s passing offense, which has averaged 252.8 yards per game.
“We have to keep going until he is out of bounds or on the ground until the whistle blows,” Collins said. “We have to stay in coverage. We know he can buy time and run around and we just have to cover our man to the whistle.”
However, the senior isn’t looking at Saturday’s matchup as anything different than Arkansas’ previous five.
“I think it’s been the same,” Collins said. “We have been treating every week like that’s our biggest opponent. I don’t think it will change this week. The No. 1 ranking, that’s great for them. But I feel like that won’t affect us much. We are just going out and playing our game and treating everyone the same.”
