Arkansas declines bizarre penalty over uniforms worn by Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Arkansas is kicking off its 2024 season against the Arkansas Pine-Bluff Golden Lions.
To begin the game, the Razorbacks were presented with a unique situation. The Razorbacks are sporting their standard home uniform — red jerseys with white helmets. Typically, the visiting team would wear white in this scenario, but the Golden Lions decided to wear all-black uniforms.
As a result, the Golden Lions would be penalized 15 yards at the start of each half for not wearing contrasting uniforms. However, the Razorbacks opted to decline said penalty.

This appears to be a show of good sportsmanship on behalf of the Razorbacks. Competing against an FCS opponent, recurring 15-yard penalties should not make a difference in the outcome of this game. Schools like UAPB don’t have the resources that big schools like Arkansas do, so the team’s uniform options are likely not plentiful.
With time winding down in the first, the Razorbacks are already sporting a 21-0 lead over the Golden Lions. Running back Ja’Quinden Jackson already has two scores and 74 yards on just 5 carries. Transfer quarterback Taylen Green has been solid as well, completing 4 of his first 6 passes for 36 yards.
The Razorbacks are hoping this will be a tune-up game before taking on a ranked Oklahoma State squad next week. After the Cowboys, the Razorbacks take on the UAB Blazers before diving into SEC play against the Auburn Tigers.
