Arkansas will play Texas in the Advocare Texas Bowl, the league office confirmed on Sunday.

An old Southwest Conference matchup will be rekindled on Monday, Dec. 29 as the Razorbacks and Longhorns square off in Houston.

The two have met 77 times, with Texas holding a 56-21 advantage all-time. The two teams haven’t met since 2008.

Second-year head coach Bret Bielema got Arkansas (6-6, 2-6 SEC) bowl eligible after a late surge with the Razorbacks winning two of its final three games. The Hogs will take its punishing run game and physical defense to Houston to face the Longhorns.

Charlie Strong is in his first year leading Texas, and led the Longhorns to a 6-6 mark in the Big 12. Strong will bring to Houston an offense led by quarterback Tyrone Swoopes and a defense allowing just more than 23 points per game.

Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN.
