Arkansas fans sound off after awful first half vs. UAB: ‘Fire Sam Pittman’

Arkansas is tied 20-20 with UAB at the half on Saturday, causing some signification frustration within the Arkansas fan base.

The Razorbacks closed as 23-point favorites over the Blazers in this game, but struggled on both sides of the ball in the first half against UAB. That was especially true on the defensive end, as UAB was permitted to average more than 6 yards per play against the Razorbacks.

Offensively, it was a slow start as well. Arkansas scored just 3 points in the first quarter, which came after a failed onside kick attempt by the Blazers. Arkansas ran only 9 plays for 36 yards in the opening stanza.

Things did get a little better offensively in the second quarter as Ja’Quinden Jackson found some room in the running game. He ended up with 74 rushing yards and averaged over 9 yards per carry in the first half. However, the passing game continued to struggled. Taylen Green started out 0-for-5 and ended the half going 3-for-14 for 52 yards and 1 interception.

Despite Arkansas’ second-quarter resurgence, fans are still understandably upset with coach Sam Pittman. Tensions were high coming into the year in Fayetteville, and last week’s overtime loss to Oklahoma State did nothing to change that.

Here’s some of the reaction to Arkansas’ abysmal performance in the first half:
