Arkansas RB announces he’s entering the NCAA transfer portal

Arkansas redshirt freshman running back A’Montae Spivey announced Wednesday that he’s transferring from the program.

Spivey revealed the news via his Twitter account:

According to a source obtained by the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Spivey wasn’t fulfilling some of his academic obligations, with created tension with the coaching staff.

Spivey arrived at Arkansas out of Phenix City (Ala.) Central as a 3-star prospect.

Spivey didn’t see much action at Arkansas. During his true freshman season, Spivey collected 24 yards on 7 carries. This season, Spivey has tallied 11 yards on 4 carries.

The running back position at Arkansas currently consists of senior Rakeem Boyd, sophomore Trelon Smith and true freshman Dominique Johnson. Smith has 251 yards, while Boyd has amassed 188 yards. Johnson has played only one offensive snap and has no touches.

Arkansas hosts Tennessee on Saturday (6:30 p.m. CST/SEC Network).
