Arkansas takes Game 1 of Super Regional with blowout win over NC State

The Arkansas Razorbacks are one win from being OmaHogs again. Dave Van Horn’s squad is up 1-0 in the best-of-three Fayetteville Super Regional after Arkansas topped NC State 21-2.
NC State struck first when Jose Torres hit a solo homer to left field in the top of the second. Arkansas answered in the bottom half of the frame when Robert “Big Hit Bob” Moore hit a two-run homer to right field. The Razorbacks added another run in the inning with a Battles double to left field, plating Opitz.
Cullen Smith busted the game open with a grand slam in the bottom of the third, making it 7-1 Hogs.
Beer hats remain undefeated.

The Hogs continued to pour it on after the slam. The sixth inning proved to be the highest-scoring frame for the Arkansas bats as six Razorbacks crossed the plate, extending the lead to 16-1.
Arkansas still wasn’t done scoring. The Razorbacks added five more in the eighth making it 21-1. Moore hit his second homer of the game to take the RBI lead with five. Eight Hogs batters recorded an RBI in the outpouring of offense. Arkansas recorded 12 RBIs with two outs.

Arkansas starter Patrick Wicklander went six innings, striking out six in a 99-pitch outing.
