A few days prior to Thursday’s Belk Bowl between Arkansas and Virginia Tech, Razorbacks’ starting TE Jeremy Sprinkle was arrested for shoplifting multiple items from a Belk department store.

As a result, head coach Bret Bielema suspended the senior pass-catcher for the contest. The decision by Sprinkle was a perplexing one. Each bowl game participant will get a ‘goodie bag’ of sorts from the sponsor of the game.

Pertaining to this contest, each player received (among other things) a $450 gift certificate to a Belk department store. In essence, Sprinkle stole items when he could’ve gotten them for free.

Taking to his personal Twitter account on Friday, Sprinkle penned this length apology:

Sprinkle has exhausted all of his college eligibility — and will now get ready for the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s projected as a top-10 tight end within the class.
