Army unveils slick skull-and-crossbones helmet for matchup vs. Air Force

Army is playing for something extra this season, and the Black Knights will have a special look when they hit the field for a rivalry game on Saturday.
At 7-0, Army has a serious chance of pushing for inclusion in the new 12-team Playoff. The highest-ranked Group-of-5 team will earn an automatic bid into the field, and the Black Knights are currently No. 21 overall in the AP Poll.
On Saturday, Army will face Air Force in a game that goes toward the Commander-in-Chief Trophy. That award is handed out to the winner of trifecta between the 3 service schools of Army, Air Force and Navy, and the Falcons have already lost to Navy.
For the special showdown, Army is donning special lids with a unique tie to the program. The Black Knights will be in their traditional black home uniforms but are exchanging their black and gold lids for a black one featuring a skull-and-crossbones decal.
It’s a nod to the flag the Black Knights carry out of the tunnel for every game, and it’s a great look:

Saturday’s kickoff from Michie Stadium is set for 12 pm ET, and CBS will have the broadcast for the game.
