Atlanta Falcons make fifth-year contract decisions on Calvin Ridley, Hayden Hurst

After three impressive seasons to start his NFL career, the Falcons were not going to let Calvin Ridley hit free agency until after his fifth season in Atlanta.
The team officially announced it has picked up Ridley’s fifth-year contract on Monday. Ridley played his college football for Alabama. In Ridley’s three seasons with Atlanta after being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, he’s caught 217 passes for 3,061 yards and 26 touchdowns.
While Ridley has had his fifth-year option picked up by Atlanta, the same cannot be said for tight end, Hayden Hurst.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Atlanta plans on letting Hurst hit the free agency market following the upcoming NFL season and will not pick up the tight end’s fifth-year option.
Hurst was also a first-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, but he was selected by the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens traded Hurst to Atlanta for the 2020 NFL season.
During his time in the league, Hurst has 99 catches, for 1,083 yards and nine touchdowns. He played his college football at South Carolina.
