Auburn knocked off Alabama 48-45 in a shootout for the ages. The 2019 Iron Bowl was one of the most insane games of the year.

It was back and forth throughout the game; however, the closing minutes took a turn for the dramatic.

With Auburn leading 48-45, Alabama drove the length of the field and attempted to tie it with a field goal on fourth down. However, kicker Joseph Bulovas missed a 30-yard field goal that hit the left upright.

Alabama, however, had two timeouts. After stopping Auburn on third down, Alabama looked like it would get the ball back on a punt. However, the Tigers kept the offense in the game, while Alabama had a late substitution on its defense because of Auburn’s fourth down formation.

That left Jaylen Waddle still deep to return the punt, but there were also 11 other Alabama defenders on the field at the same time. That resulted in a substitution infraction on Alabama and a first down for Auburn.

Auburn then kneeled the ball and ran the clock out. Game over.
