Auburn beat Texas A&M 43-41 in 4 overtimes on Saturday night.

On a day that began with Nick Saban declaring Jordan-Hare Stadium as “haunted,” that proved to be true as the Tigers won thanks to a dropped 2-point conversion attempt.

After the 2 teams exchanged missed conversions in triple OT, Auburn converted its try in the fourth overtime period. That’s when disaster struck for the Aggies as Amari Daniels couldn’t haul in a seemingly-on-target pass from Marcel Reed:

The loss is Texas A&M’s third of the season. This loss is very damaging for A&M’s College Football Playoff aspirations, although the Aggies are not the only SEC team who suffered a devastating loss on Saturday. Alabama and Ole Miss also fell to unranked opposition.

For Auburn, the Tigers are now 5-6 on the season. This is one of the biggest wins of the Hugh Freeze era as well. The Tigers will have a chance to reach bowl eligibility if they can upset Alabama next weekend in the Iron Bowl.

The College Football Playoff rankings will be updated on Tuesday night.
