Auburn football’s 2025 season opener at Baylor will be played on a Friday night, according to a report.

That’s per the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, who says that the Tigers and Bears will face off in Waco, Texas, on Aug. 29 instead of Aug. 30.

After a disappointing 2024 season that saw Auburn struggle to a 5-7 overall record and a 2-6 mark in the SEC, there is some definite intrigue attached to the Tigers for 2025. And apparently that intrigue will kick off one night earlier than expected, as Hugh Freeze’s team will travel to Baylor for a weeknight kickoff that is sure to get even more attention nationally.

There is immense pressure on Freeze to get Auburn back to being a contending team in the SEC, and that challenge will start in Waco as the Tigers look to erase the sting of the 2024 season. Helping matters could be transfer quarterback Jackson Arnold, who comes to the Plains after a roller-coaster tenure at Oklahoma.

Arnold’s arrival at Auburn has been met with a ton of attention and anticipation, and his time as the Tigers quarterback could start on a Friday night in late August, if everything this offseason goes according to plan.
