Auburn is earnestly preparing for its Sugar Bowl date with Oklahoma on Jan. 2. The Tigers are looking to win their ninth game of the season — while also gaining some steam for the start of next season.
According to AL.com, freshman running back Stephen Davis Jr. — son of the former Washington Redskins/Carolina Panthers rusher — has been noticeably absent from the practice periods.
Head coach Gus Malzahn briefly addressed the situation, saying “He’s not out there with us. He’s just not out there with us.”
Davis Jr. cryptically tweeted this message a few days ago. These are Kodak Black song lyrics — although they may have to do with his current situation:
They say they love you forever. They say they with you for life, soon as stuff go sour they catching a flight….

Davis Jr. missed the entire 2016 season due to pre-existing knee issues from his high school days. Hailing from Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, South Carolina, the former 3-star recruit opted for his father’s alma mater over the likes of South Carolina, North Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Notre Dame, and Tennessee.
