College Football

Dameyune Craig, Auburn closing in on Florida two-fer

Despite the pomp and circumstance, college football prospects more often than not gravitate toward their first loves.

In other words, even if a prospect de-commits, as long as there is nothing crazy happening in your program (i.e. a staff change on the prospect’s side of the ball or a head coaching change, an NCAA investigation, etc.), you stand a good chance (or at least better than average) of getting said prospect back.

The prediction here is that this will be the case with Auburn and wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers (Tampa, Fla./Catholic).

Craig-Myers visited the plains over the weekend and the Tigers are again trending toward landing the four-star prospect. He was committed to Auburn for a big hunk of the cycle prior to de-committing May 6.

While there still is an official visit to Ole Miss scheduled for Jan. 29 (the final weekend of the cycle) and Florida State and North Carolina (perhaps even Florida) are in the mix, momentum is back with Auburn right now.

Getting Craig-Myers back into the fold would give Auburn co-offensive coordinator Dameyune Craig (one of the best recruiters in the country) two good-sized receivers in the class. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Craig-Myers would compliment 6-foot-3, 220-pound Kyle Davis, who has already enrolled, quite well and the Tigers also have speedster Eli Stove (Niceville, Fla.), who stands 6-foot-1, committed.

That’s quite an upgrade in the passing game from a weapons standpoint.

Auburn also is the predicted landing spot for the brother of Craig-Myers, four-star cornerback Jayvaughn Meyers (Dade City, Fla./Pasco). Myers is an excellent prospect in his own right and had a very good official visit this past weekend as well.

That would give Auburn quite the two-fer from the weekend. The Tigers currently have the No. 11 class in the country and a top 10 finish is quite possible.
