Auburn edge defender Dylan Brooks has entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports on Saturday.

A former top-100 recruit in the 2021 class, Brooks spent two years with the Tigers. He was the highest-rated signee for the program out of the Class of 2021, ranked by the industry-generated 247 Composite as the No. 77 overall prospect in the country.

He was initially a Tennessee signee before being granted a release from his signed NLI in February 2021. He committed to Auburn just days later and enrolled that summer.

As a true freshman, Brooks took a redshirt and did not appear in a game.

During the 2022 campaign, he served as a backup to Derick Hall at the Jack linebacker position and played in 9 games. He finished the year with 6 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass breakup, and 1 fumble recovery.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Brooks will have 3 years of eligibility at his next stop.

He’s the eighth Auburn player to leave the team for the transfer portal since spring ball ended. With Hall and Eku Leota moving on to the NFL, he figured to have a role on the defense this fall. Now, defensive coordinator Ron Roberts will need to look elsewhere — presumably the portal.

Vanderbilt transfer Elijah McAllister, top-100 2023 signee Keldric Faulk, and his classmate Brenton Williams are the only remaining scholarship players on the roster at the position.
