Before Auburn makes any decisions about Bryan Harsin’s future with the football program, it will likely want to hire an Athletic Director first.
And that day might be coming sooner than later.
Earlier Saturday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that the Tigers were in “discussions” with Mississippi State AD John Cohen about filling the same role at Auburn.
Additional reports have since surfaced Saturday afternoon that an agreement between the 2 parties could be imminent.
Sources confirmed that John Cohen is nearing a deal to become Auburn's next AD. He has been serving in that role at Mississippi State since 2016, overseeing the hires of Chris Lemonis and Mike Leach among others.

Cohen has been the AD at MSU since November of 2016. Prior to that, he was the Bulldogs’ head baseball coach from 2009-16.
If Cohen does ultimately land the job, his first order of business almost certainly will be what to do with Harsin, who has come under fire in his 2nd year at the school.
