Alabama and Auburn successfully locked down the top six players within the state. Both five-star linebackers are headed to the University of Alabama after National Signing Day announcements.
Florida and Mississippi State, though, each picked off a pair of top 10 recruits from the state.
In fairness, there were only a handful of four-star recruits in the state. Just one went elsewhere — Jeremiah Moon from Hoover High School, an outside linebacker and the lowest-rated of those four-star players. Interestingly, new Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt is a former Hoover assistant coach, though the Tide linebacker commitments all rank higher and the team may not have been all that interested in Moon.
So Alabama and Auburn claimed just six of the state’s 10 top prospects in the 2016 class as opposed to all 10 last year. But the two classes are not equal, as this one includes more premium talent up top and less depth.

The Top 25 Recruits From The State of Alabama
Outside the top 10, other schools were able to grab some of the top players in the state of Alabama, most notably Florida. Between Auburn and Alabama, just 10 of the top 25 stayed in-state at the two SEC schools. In-state FCS team Samford also claimed one, while three remain uncommitted as of 2:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
