The Auburn Tigers had a special moment in practice in Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday morning when head coach Bryan Harsin awarded a scholarship to walk-on linebacker Jake Levant.

Harsin gathered the team midfield to make the announcement, which obviously got a big reaction out of the players. Levant himself admits he wasn’t fully sure what was going on at first.

It took me a second to realize what was happening,” he said in a report from Bennett Durando of The Montgomery Advertiser. “All of a sudden people are jumping on me.” It didn’t take long for him and everyone else to notice what was on the video board, though.

Levant was used as a reserve linebacker last season, making eight appearances in 2021. He’s mostly been used on special teams and tallied a single tackle last year, though it will be interesting to watch how his workload could change in 2022. Levant was also named to the SEC academic honor roll and the AD Honor Roll.
