Auburn’s Florida natives eager to make their first appearance in The Swamp

It isn’t very often that Auburn and Florida, once two programs that would battle every single year, get to face off against each other nowadays. The last time the two met was in 2011, a 17-6 Tigers victory in Jordan-Hare Stadium, and they haven’t played in Gainesville since 2007.

For Florida natives like Jeremiah Dinson, this Saturday when the Tigers battle in The Swamp will be personal.

“Yeah, you could say that,” the defensive back said on Tuesday.

Even for Marlon Davidson, who grew up in Greenville, Ala., going to Gainesville to play the Gators is going to be something special.

“Of course this is one of the games that I wanted to go down and play in, in The Swamp,” Davidson said. “Growing up as a kid, the history down there and just going down there and playing Florida, period.”

As for it being the Gators’ Homecoming game, usually reserved for cupcake opponents so the home crowd will go home happy, the two Tigers had different approaches to answering questions about it, but are probably thinking the same thing.

“No comment,” Dinson said with a smile.

“Words can’t even explain it, but I mean, it’s another game,” Davidson added.

I’m sure that the No. 7 Tigers don’t need extra motivation for a top-10 matchup on the road, but you can be certain that factor will be in the back of their minds when they take the field on Saturday.

If you missed it, another Florida native weighed in on Auburn’s upcoming trip to Gainesville:
