Austin Herro, like his older brother, will play college basketball in the SEC. The younger brother of former Kentucky standout Tyler Herro has committed to play for South Carolina.
Austin is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and out of Whitnall High School. He announced his plans to play for Lamont Paris’ program on social media. Paris is familiar with the Badger State as a former Wisconsin assistant coach from 2010-to-2017.

Herro is coming off a 2022-23 season in which he averaged 14.8 points per game on 44.8% field goal shooting, with a 35.8% mark from 3-point range. His listed measurements are 6-3, 175 pounds.
South Carolina went just 11-21 in the 2022-23 season, the first season under Paris. If Austin can have a Year 1 impact like his brother, it would be a huge boost for the Gamecocks. Tyler Herro was named the SEC’s Newcomer of the Year for 2019 in his only season at Kentucky. Tyler has gone on to play 4 seasons for the Miami Heat, earning NBA Sixth Man of the Year recognition in 2022.
