Baker Mayfield makes good on friendly bet following Oklahoma’s loss to Mizzou

Baker Mayfield wore a “Mizzou Grandma” hoodie to the Buccaneers’ facility on Wednesday, evidently making good on a bet he made with team reporter Casey Phillips.

A couple of weeks ago, Oklahoma fell to Missouri in dramatic fashion 30-23 in Columbia. The Sooners had a lead in the final minutes of the game, but ended up conceding a pair of late touchdowns to give the Tigers the win in regulation.

As a result of that defeat, the Oklahoma legend had to pay up on a friendly wager he made before the game on Wednesday. Here’s a look at Mayfield in the Mizzou hoodie:

It certainly could be worse for Mayfield — Missouri was never a rival for Oklahoma while he was playing for the Sooners.

Phillips gave Mayfield credit for sticking to the bet:

While the Sooners struggled their way to a 6-6 season in 2024, Mayfield is having one of the best seasons of his NFL career. He’s already thrown for 3,034 yards and 25 touchdowns so far during the regular season. He’s on pace to break his career-bests in both categories and he also currently has Tampa Bay in position to fight for a playoff spot down the stretch.

Mayfield and the Bucs will take on Las Vegas on Sunday.
