In one of the bigger upsets of the week, the Missouri Tigers fell to the Wyoming Cowboys, 37-31. While a trip to the elevation of Laramie is always tricky, this was a less than ideal start for a program hoping to contend in the SEC East.
Outgaining Wyoming 537-389, the difference in the game was the Tigers’ three turnovers. The Cowboys did not turn the football over and despite being outperformed in virtually every category, this allowed the program to record the first Power Five win of the Craig Bohl era.
Returning home to Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium, the Tigers have another tough test on Saturday vs. West Virginia (noon ET, ESPN2).
In an effort to get his players to place a greater emphasis on valuing the football, head coach Barry Odom is using a familiar tactic.

Carrying the “Takeaways = Victory!!” cards has worked out well for the Tigers before. Tigers beat reporter Dave Matter noted that MU carried the cards before a memorable 2014 game against Florida in which Pinkel’s squad forced six turnovers en route to a 42-13 win.
While they did pick up a win, West Virginia was less than impressive in their season-opener vs. James Madison. The Mountaineers did not commit a turnover in Week 1, but if the cards have any magic left in them, that will change on Saturday.
