The Dallas Cowboys have an interesting decision on their hands.

Longtime starter Tony Romo went down with a back injury in the preseason and rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has quickly become a fan favorite while leading the Cowboys to a 4-1 record.

With Romo nearing a possible return, the team will have to decide to keep him on the bench in favor of the former Mississippi State star or replace Prescott in the starting lineup.

Plenty of people are sure to share their opinion on the dilemma, and former Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Switzer already has. Speaking with Bo Mattingly, Switzer said there is no way they can bench the rookie.

“As long as this guy’s playing like he is, you can’t take him off the field,” Switzer said of Prescott. “You get injured, that’s what happens; a guy gets a chance and an opportunity. This kid ain’t throwing a damn interception, he’s completing 80 percent of his passes.”

Given Romo’s history of injuries, the Cowboys drafted Prescott hoping he would be a serviceable backup and eventually be groomed into a starter. Instead, Prescott has become on of the top rookies in the NFL and left Dallas with a nice problem to have.
