Believe it or not, Phillip Fulmer pulling for Alabama to win it all

Published:
Phillip Fulmer is pulling for Alabama to win Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Georgia.
Never thought you’d read that sentence, huh?
After all, Fulmer has always had bad blood with Alabama. It dates back to 2004 when he secretly provided info to the NCAA about Alabama’s rules violations.
But the Tennessee athletic director joined The Morning Show With Nick and Chris on Atlanta’s 680 The Fan (WCNN-AM) on Thursday and made the following statement:
Something I thought I’d never type: Phillip Fulmer pulling for Alabama to win the National Championship, “I’m pulling for Jeremy (Pruitt) to win it.”
— SEC Mike (@MichaelWBratton) January 5, 2018
It makes sense that Fulmer would pull for his new head coach to do well. Surely, though, Fulmer still hates Alabama deep down. He was 11-5 vs. Alabama as Tennessee’s head coach.
It also makes logical sense that Fulmer wouldn’t want to pull for Georgia — an SEC Eastern Division rival — especially with all the momentum in recruiting the Bulldogs have had lately.
The Crimson Tide and the ‘Dawgs kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Monday. The game will be televised on ESPN.
