The SEC is loaded with freshmen who were stud recruits and other underclassmen who could leave early for the NFL, but here at Saturday Down South, we don’t want to overlook the talented seniors who stuck around for a fourth season and are excelling for their teams. Here are five of the top performances from seniors during the ninth week of the SEC football season.

TRA CARSON

His freshman teammate Kyler Murray got the start at quarterback and stole the show, but we’d be remiss not to point out that Texas A&M’s senior running back had a great game as well as the Aggies bounced back from losses to Alabama and Ole Miss to get a much-needed win. Carson carried 21 times for 122 yards and a touchdown. He also had 2 catches for 18 yards. Murray was the flash, but Carson was the workhorse all day for the Aggies.

BRANDON WILDS

It was a big day for senior running backs in College Station. South Carolina couldn’t get the win against Texas A&M, but Wilds had a big day. Wilds carried the ball 17 times for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 2 catches for 15 yards as the Gamecocks came up a touchdown short of pulling off an upset.

TRAE ELSTON

The Ole Miss defensive back continues to be one of the best players in the country and improves his draft stock each week it seems. In the victory against Auburn, Elston nearly came up with another interception but had to settle for 2 pass breakups in addition to a team-high 7 tackles, which included 1 for a loss.

JAYLEN WALTON

Walton is becoming one of Ole Miss’ most versatile offensive weapons. On Saturday against Auburn, he rushed 20 times for 78 yards and was also a big part of the passing game. Walton finished with 3 catches for 47 yards. The only thing he didn’t do was get into the end zone.

BRANDON ALLEN

The Arkansas quarterback was extremely efficient in leading the Razorbacks to 63 points and a victory against Tennessee-Martin. Allen completed 14 of 19 passes for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running back Alex Collins got the headlines with 5 rushing touchdowns, but Allen couldn’t have been much better in the game.
