Big 12 refs hammered for ridiculous unsportsmanlike penalty taking Iowa State TD off the board

Saturday’s Iowa State-Oklahoma State featured one of the worst unsportsmanlike conduct penalties we’ll see this season.
Iowa State receiver Xavier Hutchinson appeared to have a long touchdown. Hutchinson’s TD, however, did not count because the officials called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Pistols Firing, an Oklahoma State sports website, shared the clip on Twitter:

Fans and media members did not agree with flagging Hutchinson, who made no obvious sign of “taunting” the Pokes.

1) This is not a big deal. Not a throat slash, standing over someone, etc.
2) Why should a celebration ever take points off the board? That's insane to me. https://t.co/elwnKRU7ed— Craig Thomas (@ImCraigThomas) October 23, 2021
Terrible call. We need more transparency and accountability from officials. https://t.co/lRvaLjGohq

The official that threw this flag should lose his job and the whole crew should be suspended. Completely unacceptable. https://t.co/WdTDU2BwTP

Fortunately for ISU, the Cyclones managed to score on that drive. ISU currently leads OSU 17-14. The game is airing on FOX.
