Big Ten Network analyst points to why Ohio State is in unfamiliar territory against Georgia

Big Ten Network analyst Joshua Perry described Ohio State’s unfamiliar path to the 2022 College Football Playoff.
Following a Week 13 loss to Michigan, Ohio State needed a USC loss in the Pac-12 Championship Game to reach the Playoff, and that is what happened. Ohio State found its way in the Playoff for the 5th time in program history. In the Peach Bowl, No. 4 Ohio State will face No. 1 Georgia in Atlanta.

The loss to Michigan was a setback for Ohio State, but the Buckeyes found a way to compete for a national championship. In an appearance on Sirius XM, Perry discussed Ohio State being fortunate to play in the Playoff.
“These guys have talked about competing for a national title all year long,” Perry said. “They stubbed their toe in the worst game possible and they’re still able to compete for a national title.”
Perry mentioned how Ohio State has not been used to being the underdog and will have to overcome that reality to beat Georgia. Losing to Michigan played a role in Ohio State playing the role of an underdog. If the Buckeyes would have beaten Michigan and entered the Playoff with an undefeated record, they most likely would have avoided a matchup against Georgia in the semifinals.
The Peach Bowl will take place on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET.
