As has been mentioned frequently, this weekend’s slate of games in the SEC left a lot to be desired.

We saw what we expected to see from most teams, but what surprised us?

Florida could be really good: We won’t know a lot until the Gators play a better opponent, but we saw a much-improved Gator squad during Saturday’s stomping of Eastern Michigan. Four different running backs combined for 248 yards on the ground and Jeff Driskel added 248 more through the air on a career-high 45 pass attempts. The defense was what we’ve come to expect from a Will Muschamp-coached team. We saw glimpses of a potentially great team on Saturday.

Auburn still hasn’t received any first place votes in the polls: The Tigers are the lone team in the top seven of both the Amway Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Top 25 to not receive any first place votes. The Tigers have showed signs of dominance throughout their first two games, but perhaps pollers are looking at the difficult schedule that ensues.

Vanderbilt is every bit as worse as we thought: The Commodores … sheesh. They’re awful. Vandy’s inept on both sides of the ball, and has yet to find something to positive to look upon in the 2014 season.
