Former LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 6th round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has turned some heads thus far in preseason camp. The most notable attention he has received comes from none other than head coach Bill Belichick.
“As camp went on, he seemed to get stronger and more productive both in practice and games,” Belichick said of Boutte. “That was very encouraging.”
The Patriots acquired JuJu Smith-Schuster and Devante Parker over the offseason in hopes to bolster a lacking wide receiver room, but Boutte could play a factor in his rookie season as well.
“He showed an explosive ability on the field; Kayshon has had a strong camp,” Belichick said. “We’ll take a look at everything here [regarding the depth chart] as we hit the weekend and get into the regular season.
Boutte finished his LSU career with 131 catches, 1,782 yards and 16 touchdowns over 3 seasons. Thus far in preseason play, Boutte has caught 4 passes for 56 yards and 1 touchdown.
