Billy Napier confirmed on Thursday ahead of the Gators’ matchup against the No. 21-ranked LSU Tigers that quarterback DJ Lagway would be back in action. Florida will also welcome back wide receiver Elijhah Badger.

This is huge for the Gators, who have been without their starting quarterback since he suffered a hamstring injury in the 30-24 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, Nov. 2. Napier seemed to imply that Lagway could have taken the field just ahead of the game against Texas, but he did not want to rush him back too early before he was fully recovered.

He reflected a sort of “touch and go” mentality surrounding the former Gatorade National Player Of The Year in his Wednesday press conference leading up to the game against the Longhorns, saying that Lagway was really “trying” to get back to action.

“You think about him; he’s going back to his home state,” Napier had said at the time. “He wants to try to find a pathway to make this work. It’s touch and go. Look, the guy’s giving it his best shot. We’ll see where we’re at in the league. There’s no secret to it anymore. You guys will have a good idea where we’re at when we approach kickoff.”

Over eight games this season, Lagway has completed 60.9% of his passes for 1,071 yards with 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

Florida and LSU are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET in The Swamp on Saturday, Nov. 16.
