Billy Napier visibly emotional in postgame interview following Florida’s upset win over Ole Miss
Billy Napier has endured through one of the hottest seats in the nation during his three-year tenure at Florida.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a head coach that has faced more pressure and scrutiny from his fanbase and media more so than Napier has over that span. Thus, after his team took down its second-straight ranked opponent in front of a home crowd, Napier let loose some of the emotions that can stem from such pressure.
Here’s Billy Napier’s emotional post-game interview after beating Ole Miss.
It did not air live because ABC/ESPN chose to feature a countdown clock for the Texas game rather than give the Florida #Gators any semblance of post-game celebration despite a top-10 upset at home. pic.twitter.com/EDirYy9yPJ

The head coach explained that it will always be a blessing to coach young men at this level, especially given the noise his team has had to deal with this season.
“I just have so much respect for how much they’ve been through and how they’ve handled it,” Napier said. “They work so hard, and we have some unique leaders in that group.”
He added that “hope and belief are powerful,” stating that his team figured that out during the course of this season and this has become the result.
Napier also explained that winning the game over Ole Miss did not come as a result of just what happened in The Swamp on Saturday. He cited the team’s work during the week as a major reason why it was able to pull off the win.
“You’ve got to earn the right to win during the week, day one through gameday,” Napier said. “And then you have to spot the ball in this league and go earn it. That was football in its purest form, it was offense, defense, special teams, takeaways, explosive plays.”
