Billy Richmond will join one of the SEC’s premier basketball programs, announcing that he is committing to join John Calipari’s Kentucky squad on Thursday.

The 5-star forward out of New Jersey chose the Wildcats over Alabama, LSU and Memphis. Richmond is rated as the No. 23 overall player in the nation per the 247 Sports Composite. Though a small forward in high school, the system rates Richmond as the No. 5 shooting guard in the 2024 recruiting class.

At 6-foot-5 and 2oo lbs., Richmond is a dynamic athlete with a high motor who knows how to attack defenders off the bounce. His versatility is perhaps his biggest strength, as he had a large frame yet solid guard skills.

More so than anything else, Richmond wants to get downhill either in the open floor or the half-court. And, on top of that, he’s left-handed, which tends to take defenders off-guard at the rim.

He joins a 2024 recruiting class for Kentucky that also features 5-star center Jayden Quaintance, 4-star center Somto Cyril 4-star point guards Boogie Land and Travis Perry. The class ranks No. 2 overall in the nation, just behind Duke.
