Blown coverage: Auburn scores 54-yard TD to narrow deficit vs. Tennessee
Auburn got off to a slow start against Tennessee, but the Tigers are right back in it.
Trailing 10-0 in the second quarter, Auburn’s offense looked stagnant until Bo Nix found Anthony Schwartz for a 54-yard touchdown pass.
Here’s the play:
Track star Anthony Schwartz may be a mid-season riser on a lot of draft boards.

That’s a blown assignment by the Vols, and it keeps Auburn in the game as the clock ticks toward half time.
However, other than this play, Tennessee has controlled the game on both sides of the ball.
Offensively, Jarrett Guarantano got off to a 12-of-15 start for 125 yards and a rushing touchdown. Running back Eric Gray was also effective, rushing for 47 yards on his first four carries.
Defensively, Nix completed just three of his first eight passes for 85 yards — meaning he was 2-of-7 for 31 yards to start the game.
Tennessee won this game 30-24 a year ago. Auburn holds a 28-22-3 lead in the all-time series history.
