Former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops apparently has pronounced himself as the unofficial Governor of Alabama.

Stoops was a special guest speaker on Friday at the USO Mayor’s Luncheon ahead of the Dollar General Bowl in Mobile, Ala. The event was held at the Mobile Convention Center.

Colin Cahill, a photojournalist from WPMI NBC 15 News in Mobile, posted on Twitter a shot of Stoops speaking at the luncheon.

Cahill said “Big Game Bob” referred to himself as the “Governor of Alabama” after having beaten both Alabama and Auburn in past Sugar Bowls.

That doesn’t seem like a great way to get a crowd full of Crimson Tide and Tigers fans on your side, but hey, to each their own.

Stoops has a point, though. His Sooners defeated Auburn 35-19 in last year’s Sugar Bowl. Three years prior, they handled Alabama 45-31 in New Orleans.
