Booger McFarland shares how whiskey helped him during cold-weather games
Booger McFarland had some interesting tips for staying warm on the sidelines.
Before Monday Night Football on ESPN in Green Bay, McFarland and fellow analyst Alex Smith shared how they stayed warm back in their playing days. McFarland recalled filling the Gatorade coolers with chicken broth and having “something a little stronger” on the side. McFarland revealed that whiskey “helps get a little warmth in your throat.”
McFarland stressed that not every player does this, but that he did utilize the trick on occasion.

McFarland spent the majority of his career in Tampa Bay, so the whiskey trick probably wasn’t needed often.
McFarland was a first-team All-American for the LSU Tigers in 1998, before he was drafted in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft. McFarland won 2 Super Bowls in his career, XXXVII with the Buccaneers and XLI with the Colts.
