Bookie Watson might as well hop on Animal Planet before every Bulldogs football game.

“I just check out Animal Planet, and I just started watching lions,” Watson said on “Out of Pocket” this week about his pregame practice. “I have a little quote on my phone that I post like before games. They would be like … ‘What does a lion do in the jungle when it’s hungry’ and he said ‘eat’, and I just start playing that back in my head over and over.”

Watson looked as tough as ever against Arkansas in a 7–3 win last Saturday. He delivered 2 sacks and 14 tackles in the victory.

“I woke up probably like 4 or 5 in the morning, and I was just watching like lion videos that whole morning, watching lions attack. Really, when we did our walk through before the game and get on the bus, I had called the defense up, and I’m like, ‘let’s go out here and get back to … real Mississippi State defense and show them a lion mentality,” Watson said.

“It’s just my lion mentality kicked in. I’m just grateful I had the guys join me,” Watson added.

Watson has 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble, an interception, and 71 tackles this season.
