Brad Nessler previews the SEC Championship Game, notes the unusually high stakes
As CBS Sports anchor Chris Hassel said, No. 8 Alabama is “looking to create chaos” against top-ranked Georgia in this weekend’s SEC Championship Game.
CBS Sports play-by-play announcer Brad Nessler, who is calling Saturday’s SEC title game, previewed the matchup with Hassel.
“When you get Alabama and Georgia together, it’s 2 juggernauts,” Nessler said. “They’re 2 programs at the top of their game right now.”
The Crimson Tide is 3-0 against the Bulldogs in the SEC title game, with all of their meetings taking place since 2012. Alabama won by scores of 32-28 (2012), 35-28 (2018) and 41-24 (2021).
Georgia, currently on a 29-game win streak, enters the SEC Championship Game for the 3rd-straight season. So far, the Bulldogs are 12-0 this season.
“It’s so impossible to do what Georgia has done,” Nessler said, noting the Bulldogs’ resiliency over the years. “Three-straight unbeaten seasons in the SEC is hard to do.”
Alabama, currently sporting a 11-1 record, has won 10-straight games since its loss to Texas in September.
Nessler said it would take a lot for the Crimson Tide to qualify for the College Football Playoff, but added “miracles do happen.” Nessler mentioned Alabama’s 27-24 comeback win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl this past weekend.
“I would never count Alabama out, that’s for sure,” Nessler said.
Kickoff between Alabama and Georgia is set for 4 p.m. Saturday on CBS.
