Brady Cook was determined to help Mizzou to victory over Auburn, even if his Saturday was interrupted with a trip to the hospital.
Cook left Saturday’s game early, suffering a non-contact injury while dropping back to pass. At halftime, a Mizzou spokesman labeled Cook unlikely to return. Cook, however, defied the odds.
Drew Pyne filled in for Cook into the 3rd quarter. Pyne was 10-of-21 passing for 78 yards, but the Tigers were unable to find the endzone with the backup quarterback.
Cook would return in the 3rd quarter, and fortunes flipped in the battle of Tiger teams. With Cook back at QB, Mizzou managed 2 touchdown drives and a 2-point conversion to defeat Auburn 21-17 after trailing in the 3rd quarter.
After the game, Eli Drinkwitz shared Cook’s message for the team. With only a few remaining games at Faurot Field, he was determined to get back out there as soon as possible.
Drinkwitz said Cook went to the hospital for an MRI during the game. He told the team “I’ve only got 2 1/2 games left on Faurot Field, I’m not missing this one in the hospital.”

Cook finished 11-of-22 with 194 yards passing in the game. He has also had 8 rushes, with a long of 14 yards.
Cook and the Tigers will look to make it 3 wins in a row when Mizzou travels to Alabama in Week 9.
