What Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said during his weekly press conference
Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema spoke to the media on Monday, two days after the Razorbacks routed Tennessee-Martin 63-28.
Alex Collins was an easy choice for one of Arkansas’ offensive MVP awards, after rushing for 173 yards and five touchdowns in the win. But Bielema and the coaching staff also recognized the team’s offensive line for playing a part in Collins’ big game and helping the Razorbacks compile 591 yards of total offense.
Bielema: Alex Collins and our starting offensive line were our offensive MVPs this week.

Center Mitch Smothers was named the SEC’s Offensive Lineman of the Week.
The team’s defensive MVP was linebacker Brooks Ellis, who made eight tackles, broke up a pass, had a quarterback hurry and returned an interception 28 yards. Kicker Lane Saling was the special teams MVP.

Bielema has been pleased with the recent play of wide receiver Dominique Reed. Reed has scored four touchdowns in the last four games. The junior from Camden, Ark. grew up dreaming of playing for the Razorbacks, and his coach says he’s playing well.

Bielema expects wide receiver Drew Morgan, cornerback D.J. Dean and safety Santos Ramirez to return this week. Morgan suffered a shoulder injury during Saturday’s game. Dean missed the game with a turf toe injury. Ramirez was suspended for disciplinary reasons.

Arkansas’ coach praised the work of football trainer Matt Summers. But he also pointed out that it’s a bad sign when the trainer is getting attention.

This week, the Razorbacks (4-4, 2-2 in the SEC) travel to Ole Miss (7-2, 4-1) for a 3:30 p.m. game that will be shown on CBS. Bielema admitted that facing Ole Miss is a tremendous challenge. He also said Rebels quarterback Chad Kelly is playing extremely well, that getting standout left tackle Laremy Tunsil back was big for the team and that the Rebels play like an experienced group.
Bielema said Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is a dangerous player. Treadwell had seven catches for 114 yards and a touchdown in the Rebels’ 27-19 win over Auburn last Saturday.

Arkansas doesn’t know yet whether its game with LSU will be a 3:30 p.m. or a 7:15 p.m. Eastern game, and if the game will be shown on CBS or one of the ESPN networks.
