Brian Kelly provided an injury update ahead of No. 12 LSU’s home contest against Arkansas.
According to LSUSports’ video for Kelly’s press conference on Monday, Kelly said that fifth-year safety Greg Brooks, Jr. will be out against the Razorbacks.
Brooks will be out for a second-straight week due to an undisclosed medical emergency.
“It is a family matter,” Kelly said.
Kelly declined to disclose further information on Brooks’ absence. Kelly noted once Brooks speaks with his family, he will provide more information.
In 2 games so far this season, Brooks has recorded 8 tackles.
Senior linebacker Omar Speights, senior defensive end Ovie Oghoufo and sophomore tight end Mason Taylor — all dealing with lower-body injuries — are listed as probable for Saturday. Speights, Oghoufo and Taylor also didn’t play against Mississippi State.
Speights has 9 tackles, while Oghoufo has 5 tackles each in 2 games this season. Taylor caught 4 passes for 39 yards in LSU’s loss to Florida State on Sept. 3.
Tigers are coming off a 41-14 win over Mississippi State on Saturday.
LSU (2-1) will now prepare for its showdown against Arkansas at 7 p.m. Saturday at Tigers Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN.
The Razorbacks (2-1) lost to BYU last week.
