Brian Kelly and his LSU Tigers got the outcome they wanted in the second game of the season, beating Nicholls State, 44-21. But it wasn’t exactly pretty in what some expected to be a much less competitive game.
And among the low points for the Tigers was when kicker Damian Ramos’ 39-yard field goal attempt was blocked by the Colonels, but still came close to going right through the uprights.
Regardless, Kelly wasn’t too pleased with that at all. The ESPN broadcast showed the LSU coach yelling at Ramos and even grabbing a hold of his jersey at one point as he continued to tear into him. The junior placekicker is 2-for-3 through the first pair of games of the 2024 season, with this marking his first missed kick. It will be interesting to watch how he progresses with LSU taking on South Carolina away from home in its next contest.
