Brian Kelly will have to look elsewhere for LSU’s next offensive coordinator, per Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger.

Kelly had targeted Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees to follow him to Baton Rouge; however, Rees has turned down the opportunity, according to Dellenger.

“Notre Dame OC Tommy Rees is remaining at the school, sources tell S.I.,” Dellenger tweeted. “He’s turned down an opportunity to move with Brian Kelly to LSU.”

Rees is in his second season as the Irish offensive coordinator, and he played quarterback for the university from 2010-13. He also served as the team’s quarterbacks coach from 2017-19.

Rees’ father serves as the Irish’s director of scouting at Notre Dame.

Kelly will now be on the hunt for the Tigers offensive coordinator.
