As No. 19 LSU prepares for Florida this weekend, Brian Kelly has nothing but praise for QB Graham Mertz.

Kelly said on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference that the junior “really settled in nicely” in the Gators’ offense.

So far this season, Mertz has 2,409 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and two interceptions.

“I think he’s in really good control of what they want to do offensively,” Kelly said. “Throwing close to 75% completion percentage, taking care of the football and really doing a nice job in getting the ball to their elite players, their playmakers.”

The play makers that Kelly referred to were senior receiver Ricky Pearsall and freshman wide-out Eugene Wilson III. Pearsall has 55 receptions for 773 yards and four TDs, while Wilson has 45 catches for 416 yards and four scores.

“(They are) just really mature, poised and I think really effective in the style of offense that Coach (Billy) Napier has put together,” Kelly said.

The Gators (5-4), currently on a two-game skid, are looking to bounce back after a tough 39-36 overtime loss to Arkansas this past weekend. The Tigers (6-3), coming off a 42-28 loss to No. 8 Alabama on Saturday, will look to win their 4th in 5 games.

Kickoff between LSU and Florida is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday on the SEC Network.
