Brock Bowers has been everything the Las Vegas Raiders hoped he would be and more when they took him with the 13rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he now has achieved one of the most impressive statistics a tight end can record.

With a catch in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, Bowers passed Hall of Famer Mike Ditka for the most receiving yards by a rookie tight end in a single season. Ditka’s mark of 1,076 was set when he was with the Chicago Bears in 1961.

Bowers entered Sunday’s action right at the 1,076-yard mark, and ironically enough, he’s now also racked up more yards than he did in any single college season while with Georgia. Bowers’ career-high in Athens came during the 2022 campaign when he recorded 942 yards in 15 games, the same amount that he has played in thus far this season.

As the Las Vegas organization begins to look toward the future following a dismal 2024 campaign, Bowers figures to be a focal point of the team’s offensive attack. The Raiders will likely be in the market for a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft, with rumors swirling about if Shedeur Sanders will become the future signal-caller for Antonio Pierce & Co.
