Broderick Jones, Kenny McIntosh have amusing exchange about a favorite Georgia play
Kenny McIntosh running behind Broderick Jones has been a simple recipe for success for Georgia and disaster for opponents during the 2022 season.
But there’s 1 play in particular that sticks out.
Jones, the Bulldogs’ star offensive tackle, and McIntosh, Georgia’s star running back, weren’t shy about discussing it during Wednesday’s press conference in the leadup to Saturday night’s College Football Playoff semifinal showdown against Ohio State in Atlanta.
“Haha, yea. I do like counter. And he likes running behind me too”

“Haha, yeah. I do like counter,” said Jones. “And he likes running behind me, too.”
Indeed, McIntosh does. Jones’ blocking helped pave the way for McIntosh to run for 709 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. McIntosh averaged over 5 yards per carry in helping the Bulldogs go 13-0, capped by an SEC title game victory over LSU in which he ran for 2 scores.
“You got to catch him to get behind his block,” joked McIntosh about Jones, who talked about how athletic he is at 6-foot-4, 310 pounds.
While the 2 players were laughing about the particulars of the Bulldogs’ counter play, nobody who faced Georgia this season was likely in a joking mood after trying to defend it.
McIntosh remembers watching film of Jones “exploding down the field” and knew right then that as long as he could get behind Jones’ block, the counter play would be a success.
