For a franchise known more for its follies than it’s achievements, the Cleveland Browns may have just made the biggest mistake yet, as the team released former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw Thursday.

The winningest quarterback in the history of South Carolina Gamecock program, Shaw threw for 6,074 yards, 56 touchdowns and rushed for another 1,683 yards and 17 touchdowns in his just over three seasons of action. But Connor wasn’t all stats, as he helped lead South Carolina to 11 wins per season during his three years as the starting quarterback.

Shaw did not see the field for Cleveland in 2015 as he needed surgery to repair several injured ligaments in his thumb suffered in the preseason.

Of course Shaw isn’t the only quarterback let go by the Browns this offseason, as Cleveland also dropped 2012 first-round pick Johnny Manziel after he failed to deliver even an ounce of his amazing hype he brought with him as he entered the league.
