Bryan Harsin’s Auburn future reaches boiling point despite fortunate escape vs. Missouri
By Keith Farner
Published:
Bryan Harsin had a slew of questionable decisions against Missouri, and they may be the final straw for Auburn decision makers to move on from the second-year coach.
One of them was to go for it on fourth down inside field goal range in a game tied at 14 late in the fourth quarter. Tank Bigsby instead lost a yard on fourth and one from the Missouri 29-yard line. Auburn had converted its first 3 attempts on fourth down in the game.
Harsin got an apparent reprieve when Mizzou kicker Harrison Mevis sailed a short field goal attempt wide right to send the game to overtime. Auburn took a lead with a field goal to begin overtime, and then was fortunate to get a costly fumble by Missouri to win the game, 17-14.
Here’s a sampling of the reaction to Harsin:

If Auburn loses this game, at least Bryan Harsin went with the fourth-and-1 mentality?

You have 2 NFL level kickers and they haven’t moved the ball the entire half and you leave the go ahead field goal on the table. Horrible decision and play call. Just a complete joke and disgrace. I pray that’s the last decision Bryan Harsin ever makes at Auburn

Thank you, Bryan Harsin. It wasn’t just that decision to go for it on 4th down I liked … it was all the decisions.

If you’re actually another loss away from firing Bryan Harsin, why the hell would a win in *this game* make Auburn say, “Eh, we’ll wait another week.”

Bryan Harsin better start packing up because that play calling was horrible
