As Butch Jones is assembling his Arkansas State staff, he’s looking to his old Rocky Top crew.

Derrick Lett and Matt Wilson are among Jones’ early hires.

Lett comes from Yale, where he was on staff since 2015. An offensive quality control assistant at Tennessee for two seasons prior to Yale, Lett worked with the running backs, wide receivers and punt return group while assisting the recruiting coordinator.

He helped lead the 2014 Volunteers to their first Bowl victory since 2010. Working mainly with the wide receivers, the unit had four members record at least 30 catches. As a group, they caught 19 touchdown passes in 12 games. He helped accomplish this while helping secure top-five classes in each of his last two years. Lett will be Jones’ wide receivers coach at Arkansas State.

Wilson was most recently at Mississippi State. He was Joe Moorhead’s director of football personnel and stayed on for the transition to Mike Leach. He will be Arkansas State’s player personnel director. Wilson served as Associate Director of Player Personnel at Tennessee under Jones from 2014-17, working with the recruiting staff.
