Throughout the season, the health — or lack thereof — of Tennessee’s football team has been evident.
The team has been absolutely crushed by injury to virtually every level of its team. Key contributors have been lost for the year, and reserves have even been nicked with various ailments.
On Wednesday, head coach Butch Jones offered an update for a few of the injured Vols:

Jones says Darrin Kirkland Jr. is "battling" and is "very mentally tough." Says he's not 100% healthy.

Safety Todd Kelly Jr. has been battling an ankle injury. On the year, Kelly Jr. is the team’s leading tackler with 67. He’s also accrued two interceptions, 1.0 sacks, 2.0 tackles-for-loss, and four pass deflections.
Lewis — a senior from Ohio — has been starting along the defensive line. He’s been a stable force for UT, notching 29 tackles to go along with 3.0 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks.
If both can come back for the in-state game versus Vanderbilt, it’d boost the defensive depth considerably.
